So the spoiling continues...

Thirteen is up, ladies. Can I just take a second and tell you how much I love my thesaurus. I adore my thesaurus. I have a penchant for my thesaurus. I delight in my thesaurus. I am devoted to my thesaurus. I am completely besotted with my thesaurus!

It's almost Friday, and I did some more editing on 13 for the JAFF sites, and changed the ending a bit, so I reposted the revised chapter here, if you are interested...

  1. We get the point... (snigger) Off to read.

  2. That was great! I like that she won't open the letter. Lydia just won't learn will she. At least now we know where Bingley was. - Elyse

  3. Elizabeth STILL hasn't read her letter. At this pace it will never be read! Or at least not until Darcy finds it unopened after their marriage and read it to her himself. You are planning to tie this up in one more chapter? I can easily see it expanded into two. Not sure I would go much further than that, though. Need to keep the readers wanting more.

  4. Wow! You were all just lurking waiting for me to post! Chapter 14 is really fat, plus a epilogue. I could break it into two, but I just want to get it out there. The letter is still in play, by the way. We have not seen the last of that darn thing. I will post it on Sunday--most likely early in the a.m. since it's Easter and I have a full day.

  5. Oh my, how delightful to see Elizabeth getting some of her courage back, Darcy and Bingley and the Colonel charging to the rescue (again!) and oh, my poor nerves! The excitement! I am greatly enjoying this, thank you! I don't know how I shall survive until ch. 14 is up... You write beautifully.

(Oh, two tiny little nitpicky things: 1) it seemed modern that Georgiana "went with" Elizabeth's suggestion; and 2) you use "globe" and "globular" several times in the garden)

  6. Oh my! How on earth is all this going to be resolved in just one more chapter?

You're an evil woman. I love you.

  7. Hey K, My nitpicky friend,

I went back and found only one "globe" and one "globular" and they were separated by a few pages (two separate nights) describing different things (roses and the moon). I even ran a "Find" and "Replace" search to double check. Where are all those pesky globs you talked about?? I want to catch those if I can. :0)

Sorry about your nerves. You and Mrs. B should compare notes...

  8. Oh, and thanks for the rain coming my way..

  9. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Carrie and I were just talking about you this evening and saying we can't wait for the next chapter and wondering when you would post... and how cruel you are for keeping us waiting so anxiously. Then, at the end of the evening, I just can't help my self and I have to go to your Blog Spot and check and it's like magic...there it is, CHAPTER 13! YES! I was jumping up and down with glee! Then I had to get on Facebook and tell Carrie.

And it was worth staying up for, what a delight this chapter is, it's so light and bright and sparkling. I loved it, the flow is perfect. Well done.

Now I suppose I must forgive you for holding out on the "Letter" for so long. But please don't make me wait much longer or I will be most seriously displeased.

All teasing aside, I will be eagerly waiting for Sunday morning.

  10. Honestly, I'm already seriously displeased about this letter. Up till now, it has been understandable why she might not read the letter. But there were so many opportunities and so many good reasons for her to read the letter in this last chapter that I think its ridiculous, forced, and contrived not to have her read it. It makes absolutely no sense and ruined the chapter for me. I could'nt enjoy it properly when I was so frustrated and confused about why she wont't read the stupid thing. It doesn't make any sense for her not to read it in this chapter. So many opportunites! and valid reasons! and she doesn't because what, she guesses what it says? This is a TERRIBLE reason. People don't work that way.

  11. Well hello Anonymous,

Sorry you were frustrated about the letter. Elizabeth isn't guessing what is in it. She just imagines that it meets her needs at the moment. But since the letter was written months ago, and the real deal is downstairs, she decides that it doesn't matter what he had to say in April. Just like it does not matter what she thought in April. Everything changes. (I think that people work in all different ways.)

The letter has stirred a lot of strong feelings in a lot of readers, and it will still be addressed in the final chapter if you will give me the chance. :0)

  12. Heavens, I'm loving this story. These two are now in pole position in my list of "Best Lizzy and Darcy in a Fanfiction Story". I have a problem though - we're staying with friends this weekend (in Bath!) and I have no access to the internet. Do you think they'll find it rude if I dump them on Sunday morning and nip to an internet cafe?

Oh and a pedantic niggle. Does Lizzy take her shoes off outside and then put them on again? It would be weird if she met Darcy and then Bingley barefoot!

  13. LM,

Dump your friends! :0) I did think about barefoot Lizzy holding a bouquet of flowers standing barefoot in front of Charles and Darcy--even though I think it is kind of sweetly sexy when she is alone in the hall with Darcy. Maybe I should having her holding her shoes in the hall and slipping them on when she follows Darcy to the foyer...

Oh, I most likely will post Saturday night--I have to get up really early Sunday morning for Easter services, so I will post before I go to bed Saturday night. I'm in California, so I don't know how that works out in England, but there you have it.

  14. I LOVE it... and love how you explained what the letter is to Lizzy.

    Perfect.

    Well Done.

(It has to make you feel good that you get a couple feathers ruffled.... I think that is the goal of every good writer.)

    Keep it up!!!!!

  15. Carrie--you are leaving the country? Where?? Take me with you. I'm pretty small and bendy... :0)

  16. Very well written. Still frustrated with your Elizabeth. And I thought W were gone for good.

Thank you for this excellent first effort.

  17. The problem with stowing away in Carrie's luggage is that you have to pay extra on most airlines to check a bag and those overhead compartments are really cramped, Amy.

  18. Thank you for directing me to your blogspot and for feeding my fix of needing to read your next chapter. But now I have a new problem...I need to read the next one : ) Perhaps I will last a few more days savoring this chapter --- along with the previous ones.
I love Elizabeth in the garden...and Darcy having spied her there. Oh, so close... Darn that servant for interrupting them! Did Darcy catch her barefeet? So sweet!

  19. Welcome Cecie!!

I'm so happy to have you here! I will post my very last chapter (sniff!) late Saturday night. But know that I plan to keep all of you around to help me fill out my book for publication and lure you into loving my new book which has a Jane Austen theme, although it is not fanfic... Are you intrigued??

  20. As much as I would love to have you along, I am afraid that you being suffocated in the luggage compartment..... producing your untimely demise would have the JAFF lynching mob after me. A very unpleasant circumstance to be in I am afraid ( for both of us ).
I am going to Cazumel Mexico next week!!! I could use some r&r and the sunshine will be lovely. ;D

    Define "late."

  22. LOL! Crystal, let's just say before I go to bed. I have rehearsal this afternoon for Easter services, and then I have some last minute editing to do. You will not be disappointed--I promise. My heart truly sputters when I read it, and I know what's coming...

  23. Hrmmm, okay, I suppose that's a fair definition. I was just wondering because, y'know, it's pretty late in, oh, London right about now.
