Sticking My Neck Out Again

Hey all!

I'm feeling much braver these days, so today I queried a production company, and pitched my original TV one-hour pilot, Home of the Braves. They were asking for comedies, and since mine is a "dramedy"--like Gilmore Girls--I took a chance and submitted a logline, synopsis and a small resume. This pilot placed in the top 75 in a very prestigious screenwriting contest last summer, and I was also able to tell them that an animated movie that I wrote won Best Children's Movie in a film festival back in 2005. So maybe that big "L" emblazoned on my forehead isn't as deep as I was thinking...

I've been promising you something, so I'm properly posting this pilot for all of you. Earlier, I had put a link to it, but I think it was having issues, so I cut, pasted and did my best to format it so it looks halfway decent here--the only thing I couldn't do was to center the dialog.

It's a really sweet, funny and moving story. I hope that you like it as much as I do. And thank you once again for all your encouragement and support. My husband is also very thankful for you! (Yah, I finally told him...)

  2. Hi Amy,
I’m taking a chance on commenting here although I see this blog has been inactive for several years so I’m not even sure it you’ll see this. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any other contact info for you.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I came across your novel yesterday on one of the JAFF sites and devoured it in one day. I absolutely loved it. I’ve just recently discovered (and quickly become addicted to) these P&P variations and yours was one of my favorites. Definitely as good as, if not better than, most of the ones I’ve purchased from Amazon.
I am also a writer working on my first novel (middle grade, so a totally different kettle of fish) so I know how difficult this is and how meaningful it can be to have someone connect with your work, so I wanted to pass that feedback on to you. It made me very sad to see that you don’t seem to be posting anymore, and I hope this doesn’t mean you’ve given up on writing or on this particular novel. I would love to see this published!
I’m not sure if you are still working on this, or if you are part of a critique group (I assume you would be) but if you are ever looking for a fresh pair of eyes, I would love the opportunity to critique for you. I had a few thoughts when reading and honestly think with some minor adjustments this could quickly go from great to outstanding. I’m not published yet myself, but I love critiquing/editing and I think I’m pretty good at it. It’s actually my favorite part of the writing process and I have critiqued for both published and non-published writers.
As I said, I’m not even sure if you’ll see this comment, but if you do and you’re interested in getting in touch, my e-mail is jaray8@hotmail.com.
Best of luck with your writing and thanks so much for posting this novel for others to enjoy.
    Jennifer
